What are the physical requirements to participate in Stand Up Paddleboarding?

Due to the nature of Paddleboarding a certain level of flexibility is required to stand up and you should be able to self rescue.

Do I have to be able to swim?

Yes, you should be be a confident swimmer.

What should I bring with me?

You will need clothes to wear on the water (or a wetsuit?) not jeans?, water shoes, a towel or robbie and a change of clothes. Suncream is a necessity what ever the time of year and beanie (when its cold) or cap (when its sunny). Water and snacks to keep hydrated for energy afterwards.

For guided tours, Sup-rise and Sup-set sessions 

Some previous Paddleboarding experience is required and you should be able to self rescue.

What safety equipment is needed?

personal floatation device should be worn at all times.

Are there changing rooms or toilets?

Please arrive ready as we do not currently have access to changing rooms or toilet facilities.

Will my lesson go ahead if it's raining?

Sessons will go head whatever the weather, although in the case of severe winds or thunderstorms we may have to cancel your sesson. MAI Adventures will monitor the weather forecast closely and the paddleboarding venue and launch site will be confirmed with you one day prior to your activity.

Alchol

Alcohol and water don’t mix. Participants who have been identified to have consumed alcohol or drugs will be immediately excluded.

COVID-19 Statement

MAI Adventures is committed to minimising the risk of spreading Coronavirus and will continue to comply with Government Guidelines and restrictions. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a natural for social distancing.

 

Precautions:

  • Paddlers to social distance - minimum of 2m at all times. A particular focus on social distance during equipment allocation and the briefing. Adapt activity to ensure social distance.

  • Small groups of 5 paddlers + one instructor (unless the same household or in a ‘bubble’

  • Equipment cleaned between use

  • Hand sanitiser is available during set up

  • Bring your own water bottle and we ask please, NO single use plastic bottles as we care about protecting the environment.

  • Paddles and leashes will be cleaned in between bookings to ensure your safety.

  • There are no toilet facilities available.

  • DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS. If any of your party show signs of Covid symptoms please do not attend your booking.

Like everyone we are learning and will be adapting procedures as more is known about the virus and a guidelines change. We can assure you that even with these changes your adventure will be as wonderful as ever and we are doing our best to control what we can to ensure we keep you safe and have a good time on the water with us.
